The Driving Test
The Driving and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) periodically update the driving test and my lessons are always kept up-to-date with the latest requirements and recommendations.
Half of the practical driving test is now based on using a SatNav (I have the TomTom Start52, as is used on the test by the examiners). However, one in five tests will still be asked to follow road signs instead.
I have also received training on the newer requirements for driving tests to include faster roads than before.

-
What lesson time slots do you have available?
I usually offer lessons in blocks of 2 hours, with slots starting at either 10am or 1pm, Monday through to Sunday.
However, I can be flexible with lesson start times and offer lessons in the evenings and weekends. I can also offer different lesson lengths, so please contact me to discuss your requirements.
-
Can I use your instructor car to take my test?
Yes, you can use my car for your test. I will pick you up and drop you off at your home or another location, and you can use my car for the test.
This is subject to availability and I will also need to check that you are ready for the test. It is unusual for me to allow you to use my car for the test if I have not taught you.

Is your instructor car a manual?
Yes, my instructor car is a manual car.

How do you accommodate individuals with special needs or disabilities during driving lessons?
Ensuring inclusivity and accessibility is paramount and I understand that every individual has unique needs. I offer personalised instruction tailored to each learner's requirements.
I provide a supportive and understanding learning environment where individuals feel comfortable expressing their needs and concerns. Before starting lessons, I encourage open communication to identify specific accommodations or adjustments necessary to facilitate the learning process.
Furthermore, I prioritise patience, encouragement, and positive reinforcement to help learners build confidence and achieve their driving goals.
-
What measures do you take to ensure the safety and comfort of nervous or anxious learners during driving lessons?
I understand that learning to drive can be a daunting experience, especially for nervous or anxious learners.
First and foremost, I am trained to create a calm and supportive learning environment. I always exercise patience, empathy, and understanding with all learners. I prioritise clear communication and encouragement, fostering a positive atmosphere where learners feel comfortable expressing their concerns and asking questions.
Furthermore, I utilise a modern and well-maintained vehicle equipped with safety features to enhance the confidence and peace of mind of nervous learners. I prioritise safety above all else and ensure that my vehicle meets the highest standards of reliability and performance.
Ultimately, my goal is to empower nervous learners to overcome their anxiety and become safe, confident drivers. I am committed to providing the necessary support, encouragement, and guidance to help each student achieve their driving goals in a safe, supportive and nurturing environment.
